EN
When the great Dao is abandoned,

大道廃れて、

There exists kindness and morality.
JA
仁義あり。

When intelligence and wisdom arise,

智慧出でて、

There exists a great deal of deception.
JA
大偽あり。
EN
When the six relationships are not in harmony,
JA
六親和せずして、
EN
There exists devoted children and loving parents.
JA
孝慈あり。
EN
When the nation and the families are very confused,
JA
国家昏乱して、
EN
There exists loyal officials.
JA
忠臣あり。
