The Way of heaven, how it is just like stretching a bow?

天の道は、それ猶お弓を張るがごときか。

He who is high is pressed down by it.
JA
高き者はこれを抑え、

He who is low is lifted by it.
JA
下き者はこれを挙げ、
EN
He who has excess is reduced by it.
JA
余りある者はこれを損じ、
EN
He who does not have enough is filled by it.
JA
足らざる者はこれを補う。
EN
The Way of heaven
JA
天の道は、
EN
Reduces what has excess and fills what does not have
JA
余りあるを損じて
EN
enough.
JA
足らざるを補う。
EN
The Way of people on the other hand is not like this,
JA
人の道は則ちしからず、
EN
And takes from those who do not have enough in order to
JA
足らざるを損じて
EN
offer it to those who have too much.
JA
余りあるに奉ず。
EN
Who can have too much and offer it to the world?
JA
孰かよく余りありて以て天下に奉ぜん。
EN
Only he who possesses Dao.
JA
唯だ道ある者のみ。
EN
Thus the sage :
JA
ここを以て聖人は、
EN
Acts, but is not concerned with the results.
JA
為して恃まず、
EN
Accomplishes his tasks, but does not dwell on them.
JA
功成りて処らず。
EN
He does not desire to display his virtue.
JA
その賢を見すことを欲せず。
